Watershed Mgmt. Plan

Join the PLA

The PLA was awarded a Watershed Assistance Grant from the NH Department of Environmental Services (DES) at the end of 2012.  At that time, the PLA chose FB Environmental as their environmental consultant to perform an analysis of the watershed.  FB Environmental worked with the PLA, NH DES, and Acton Wakefield Watersheds Alliance (AWWA) to perform a watershed survey on May 18, 2014 and a septic survey in the late summer as well as modelling water quality data, ground-truthing potential pollutant sites and developing a Watershed based Management Plan for the PLA to take Province Lake into the future.

That Watershed Management Plan (WMP) is available for viewing below.

After completion of the WMP, AWWA took over the grant application and management process for the PLA.  AWWA, with PLA, applied for and received another Watershed Assistance Grant from the NH DES in early 2015 and again in 2016.  These grants will be used to fund activities toward Phase 1 & 2 of the implementation of the WMP.  Phase 1 was primarily focused on developing a road plan for Bonnyman Rd and Rte 153 with a couple of implementation projects.  Phase 2 included more Bonnyman Road projects as well as septic system improvement funding.  For the road projects, the steering committee has chosen the  UNH Storm Water Center as its consultant.
