PLA BOARD GIVES OPINION ON KAYAK BUSINESS PROPOSAL
For those who may not be aware there is a proposal going before the Wakefield Planning Board for a commercial venture (Kayak Rental Business) on lakefront property on Bonnyman Road. Below is the PLA Board of Directors response to this proposal.
The PLA board of directors are concerned about any new activity, including the Site Plan Application for Lots 34 & 40 on Bonnyman Rd (the Silver Hill area), that impacts the lakeshore and could result in increased erosion and water quality degradation. Province Lake is currently on the NH Department of Environment Services list of impaired lakes, any development and increased traffic, automobile and boat, would have a negative impact on the lake. The Town of Wakefield has recognized the need to protect this important resource through their continued support of our Lake Host Program.
The Wakefield Planning Board will be reviewing this application on July 19 at 7 pm. Wakefield and Province Lake property owners can express their concerns at the Wakefield Planning Board meeting or through their email Landusecodedept@wakefieldnh.

THE LOONS ARE NESTING
The adult loons have been spending the past several days on and around the nest we have in the lake. As such, we are asking boaters, fishermen, etc. to stay clear. PLEASE give them plenty of room. We have put out signs warning of the area and they look like the picture below:

Cyanobacteria Blooms
Sadly we are once again starting to experience cyanobacteria blooms on the lake. The photo below is from this morning on Point Road. We also had a bloom a few weeks ago that was more widely spread. Should you see anything like this, you should avoid going in it and especially keep your young kids and pets out of it.
As a reminder, cyanobacteria is in every fresh water body in the world. Blooms however happen depending on a multiple of conditions such as temperature, phosphorus levels, rain fall, etc. etc. etc.. The blooms can come quick and then disappear quickly or they can stay around for a while. As stated above .. just avoid them.
